Since my closet purge and organization, I’ve had the itch to do a lot more organizing in the house. Next up was my jewelry situation. I have been storing my jewelry in the top drawer of my nightstand. Mostly inexpensive costume pieces -

Woah. It was such a mess in there that in the process of looking through it to clean it out, something fell behind the drawer and now I can’t close it. I need Gumby to come and help me. Anyway… I’ve seen a ton of DIY organization lately for jewelry, and I had just the pieces to start out my project.

These frames used to be in our guest room/my office/lady retreat (similar to a man cave). All of this was pre-kiddos and now that room is an actual office for my husband’s job and our guest room is nonexistent. They were laying around and weren’t really my style anymore. To prep for the project, I went to Home Depot and bought: white spray paint, heavy-duty wire mesh screen (sold in a roll), peg board cut to size and a pack of peg hooks for the board.

After everything was painted and cured, I added the peg board and wire to the frames. The wire was cut with tin snips and everything was secured to the back with the prongs on the frame. So simple.

And here is the final result…

I am thrilled! I love being able to see the jewelry I own. It makes accessorizing so simple and easy. A lot of times, I would forget to put on jewelry, but now it’s a no brainer. I hung the frames in my bedroom, one one each side of my closet door. I have a vanity that needs to be returned to my room that will go under the necklaces and the mirror. We are currently using it as a computer desk, and I would love to have it back.

I still have to figure out something for my smaller earrings with post backs and bracelets, but this is a great improvement.
How do you organize your jewelry?
