Hello, My Name Is…

As I sit down to write my first blog post, I strangely feel like the new girl at orientation.  Wearing a sticky tag on my shirt, my name scribbled in nervous handwriting.  It’s not like I haven’t done this before.  When my first baby was born, I started a simple blog to keep our out-of-state family updated on the daily adventures of our little boy.  Our family loved the updates, but when morning sickness took over during my second pregnancy, I stopped blogging.  That was my main excuse, but there was more to it.  I loved providing updates and stories for my family, but I was blogging for them, not for me.  It became a chore.

Overtime, I missed blogging.  There were things I wanted to say, stories I wanted to share.  But I realized I had to do it differently.  Any blogger will say the most important thing is to write about your passion.  Yes, I am passionate about my family, and I treat my life as a stay at home mom very seriously.  But before I had my children, food was my passion.  I read cookbooks like many read novels.  I can chat on the phone with my mom about recipes and menu ideas for way too long.  And one of my favorite parts of Sunday is sitting down with a stack of cookbooks and making my grocery list…what will we have this week?

So this blog will be part family, part food.  Most of the time, the two will blend together.  But most importantly, this blog will be all me.

I am a little nervous, though.  Putting myself “out there,” I guess.  I hope you enjoy what I write, but please also be patient with me as I find my voice, my groove.  I’m excited to see where this will all go.  And if you are so inclined, please say hello. This new girl could use a friend.
